Insulator Creek Falls

About this event
A one-day bushwalk on Bambaroo Track to Insulator Creek canyon. Amazing giant trees and great rainforest scenes.
Leader: Cherry Judge
Rated: Medium. Steep bush tracks, uneven footings, with some off-track creek walking and wet rocks. About 6+ hours bushwalking.

Walk Description:
The Bambaroo Track starts near the highway and climbs steeply up the range spurs to the top of the Paluma range. But today we will only go halfway up. The first hour is a hot steep road climb to get the heart pumping and sweat flowing. Then we enter the rainforest and the climb continues along a rainforest track, but less steep, to reach the start of the giant fig trees. These trees are amazing.
After exploring one of the giant trees (there are at least 9 giant figs in the area, but will only visit a few), we continue to more fascinating trees of a different types. Then more track climbing up the range, to reach the Insulator Creek track. Steep rough track descending to the creek to amazing scenes. The terrain includes uneven footings, rock hopping, bush bashing, steep climbs, and some exposed ledges.
The return journey is the same route but downhill most of the way.
Full day walk. Estimate back at the carpark around 4 to 5 pm.
What to bring:
Day pack, food/snacks for the day, water 2 to 3 lt minimum (refill from the creek at midday or carry 4 lt water for all day), long sleeve clothing and good rugged footwear (to protect from sun, scratches, stings, and bites), electrolytes, insect repellent (leeches, mozzies), hat, sunscreen, personal first aid kit (basic), and sunglasses. Also, head torch and whistle.
If you are uncomfortable using creek water for drinking water refill (after treating suitably), then carry 4 lt min for the day, or more to suit your requirements. Note that the club recommends that any natural water sources must be suitably treated before consumption.

Must be over 18yrs to participate.
