[email protected]Join Molly and Cherry for a rewarding off-track walk to Walkers Creek, on the southern end of the Mount Elliot range in Bowling Green Bay National Park. This hidden creek system is home to granite creek scenery, swimming holes, small cascades, and the impressive single-drop Walker Falls.
Access for this walk is via private property and has been arranged with permission. Please do not attempt to access this area independently without landholder permission. Meeting details and access instructions will only be provided to those who RSVP.
The walk begins with cross-country hiking through long grass before reaching Walkers Creek. From there, the route follows the creek upstream, with plenty of rock-hopping, scrambling, and creek travel. There are several pools along the way, and depending on water levels, there may be opportunities to swim before continuing towards Walker Falls.
This is a reasonably strenuous walk, especially for those newer to off-track hiking, as the route is rough and mostly uphill on the way to the falls. Participants should be confident walking through long grass, moving over uneven rocks, scrambling around creek obstacles, and travelling in remote terrain where the easiest line may change as we go.
