Mt Halifax Summit

Rated: Hard – rough terrain, steep climbs.
Meeting: Meeting location and time to be emailed. It will likely be a very early start to make sure we are back before nightfall ideally.
Walk Description:
This is the highest mountain between Mt Spec at Paluma and Townsville. We often see it shrouded in cloud on our way to Paluma.
The track takes us first along a rocky jungle creek, onto steep boulder-strewn banks and upwards.
The tracks climbs steeply to the summit of Mt Halifax. There are beautiful waterholes along the way.
How long:
Full day walk. Estimate back at the car park around 5 pm and drive back to Townsville. Aim for a 9-11 hour day.
What to bring:
Day pack, food/snacks for the day, water 3 lt minimum (you can refill from creeks - please carry water treatment tablets), long sleeve clothing and good rugged footwear (to protect from sun, scratches, stings, and bites), electrolytes, insect repellent (leeches, mozzies), hat, sunscreen, personal first aid kit (basic), and sunglasses. Also, head torch and whistle.
Must be over 18yrs to participate.
