About this event

Forgotten Falls and K Traverse
When: Sunday 17 May 2026
Location: Paluma Range National Park
Leader: Cherry
Grade: 4 (creek walking, off-track sections, and wet feet likely)
RSVP: [email protected]

Cherry will be leading a day trip into Forgotten Falls and the K Traverse area in Paluma Range National Park - a lush rainforest creek adventure with easy access, beautiful granite cascades, clear pools, and plenty of classic North Queensland scenery.

Ready for a proper Paluma adventure? This one has a little bit of everything: old logging roads, rainforest, creek crossings, hidden swimming spots, scrambling, and one very magical waterfall tucked deep in the ranges.
We’ll begin along the historic K-Traverse, following the old logging road through lush rainforest country before dropping down into William’s Creek toward the beautiful Platypus Lagoon. From there, we continue deeper into the valley to reach the stunning Forgotten Falls.
There will be creek crossings, uneven terrain, slippery rocks, and a short scramble beside the falls to access the upper section, so this walk is best suited to walkers comfortable with rough terrain and moderate fitness requirements.
This is a through-walk, so we’ll be organising a car shuffle, leaving vehicles at the Chick’s Road exit before beginning the walk from Paluma Dam Road.

Please note: we no longer require a permit to travel up the Paluma Range Road. However, we still require the lead escort vehicle, which runs hourly. Meeting details and timing will therefore be provided once you RSVP directly to Cherry.

Bring:
At least 2-3 L of water

Sturdy footwear with good grip that you do not mind getting wet

Meeting details will be provided once you RSVP directly to Cherry at [email protected]
