SATURDAY 3 October 2020
REGISTRATION WITH THE WALK LEADER IS ESSENTIAL. PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW.
RATED: Hard (on trail but there is elevation gain of 750m)
DESCRIPTION
This will be a full day hike on a mountain track. There is a long steep climb, sometimes rough and slippery terrain with uneven footings, tree and rocks roots on track. Some creek crossings are involved (may be slippery rocks). Don't let that scare you off though..... because:
This is a great mountain track walk to a top waterfall and pool. It is a steep climb, ascent of 750 mr. Along the way we'll pass scenic creeks, a great lookout. We'll stop at the beautiful Gold Creek falls at the top and have a swim and a well deserved rest. Return will be by the same route. Note this is in conjunction with the 3 day hikers doing the range traverse (but we will not help carry their heavy packs up the track .... unless you really want to help them 🙂).
FITNESS
To be suitable for this walk, a good analogy would be doing a Castle Hill spur, without a track, three times with ease before lunchtime.
WHAT TO BRING
- Water: you will need water for half day eg minimum 2L and refill from the creeks - treating the water is recommended - or carry enough for the full day.
- Clothing: there is some long grass and scrub so full long sleeve clothing is recommended. Many members also wear fingerless gloves.
- Enclosed footwear
- Food for the day
- Hat, sunscreen and insect repellent
- Usual bushwalking gear
- Personal first aid kit including a compression bandage and blister kit is recommended.
- Hiking poles - optional but very useful. The descent can be steep and slippery.
COST
Non members = $5 walk fee for insurance
