White Mountains NP
May Long Weekend 3 day adventure
4-6th May 2024
White Mountains National Park - spectacular white sandstone bluffs and gorges.
An exploratory multi-day bushwalking adventure in a different section (for us) of White Mountains NP.
Planned as a remote bushwalking camping adventure. Will involve at least one night camping in a remote
gorge, maybe two nights.
Suitable for experienced, well equipped, remote and rough terrain capable, multi-day bushwalkers.
Type of walking - true bushwalking - no tracks. Bushwalking along and inside remote gorges and bluffs,
uneven terrain, boulder scrambling, and through bush / scrub, prickly heath. There will be steep
clambering climbs in and out of gorges.
This rugged, remote park covers 108,000 hectares and is only suitable for well-equipped, experienced
bushwalkers. There is no signage or information about remote bushwalking locations for this park.
Location is near Torrens Creek. Approx 370 km drive to the car park – Torrens Creek is 300 km from
Townsville, then a further approx 60 km dirt roads – some corrugations, rough in spots, some bull dust.

2024. Bushwalkers interested in participating are requested to attend the club meeting for registration and
briefing.
