A rainforest track bushwalk in the Mt Spec area. Highlights will include Diorite Falls, Waterfall Creek, Shay’s Clearing, and will try the DCK ice bath.
Type of walk – 22 km rainforest track walk. May be some minor rock hopping at the creeks. Tracks have uneven footing including tree roots and rocks. Will be some steep hills along the route.
Rated – MEDIUM HARD
Cost – non-members $5 fee.
What you need – carry drinking water for the walk (minimum 2 lt and refill from creeks, or carry water for the day 4 lt). Lunch, snacks / energy food, electrolytes, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, enclosed sturdy footwear. Recommend long sleeve clothing / gaiters to avoid scratches. Some members also wear fingerless gloves. Hike/Trek pole(s) can be handy on track walks for some. Swimming attire for the swims.
Timing and meet – Meet at 0815 at Paluma Dam car park (the outside car park).
Estimated Completion – back at cars by 4:30 pm. Mt Spec Road closes at 6 pm.
Must be over 18yrs to participate.
Water refill - if you don't like creek refills, then you need to carry water for the day, at least 4 lt, or more to suit your own requirements. The Club recommends that any creek water refills are suitably treated / filtered before consumption.

COVID-19
Please do not attend if you are unwell, have symptoms or have been ordered to quarantine or isolate. Social distancing and self managed hygiene practices are strongly encouraged, and the club will not be organising car pooling opportunities at present. The club is cognisant of the QORF COVID SAFE PLAN for Outdoor Recreation Providers. On some walks, as noted above, numbers may be limited.
