On Saturday 23rd January we’ll head to Dolby Creek in the Mt Spec area. This walk will be an off-track rainforest creek exploration.
REGISTRATION IS ESSENTIAL
Type of walk:
full day exploration bushwalking. Walk will be around 20 km. Track at start and end of day – but from about 10 am to 2 pm will be several hours off-track exploring Dolby Creek (Johnstone’s Clearing area) walking through rainforest, viewing lovely creek scenery. We will look for historic hut and tin mining sites from circa 1920s, and may also bushwalk along Crystal Creek to DCK Hut. Very photogenic creek areas.
Cost:
non-members $5 fee.
What you need:
- Carry water (minimum 2 lt), refill from creek as required (treat / filter your water refill) .
- Lunch, snacks / energy food, electrolytes
- Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent (leeches, mozzies)
- Enclosed sturdy footwear (see note below)
- Personal first kit.
- Recommend long sleeve clothing / gaiters to avoid scratches.
- Some members also wear fingerless gloves. Hiking poles are good on track walks.
(If you are uncomfortable using creek water for drinking water refill (after treating suitably), then carry 4 lt min for the day, or more to suit your requirements. Note that the club recommends that any natural water sources must be suitably treated before consumption).
Note – footwear will get wet, so wear foot wear that is suitable.
Timing and meet:
Meet Paluma Village Green at the toilet block car park at 8 am. We then drive to the dam.
Estimated Completion – back at the dam car park around 5 pm.
Must be over 18yrs to participate.

COVID-19
Please do not attend if you are unwell, have symptoms or meet any conditions outlined by Qld Government. Social distancing and self managed hygiene practices are strongly encouraged, and the club will not be organising car pooling opportunities at present. The club is cognisant of the OQ COVID SAFE PLAN for Outdoor Recreation Providers. On some walks, as noted above, numbers may be limited.
