About this event

SUNDAY 19th July - Mt Storth (full day)

REGISTRATION WITH THE WALK LEADER IS ESSENTIAL. PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW.

RATED - Hard
Approx. 9hrs bushwalking. There is a long steep hill climb, no track, long grass, uneven footings, scrub, with return home via a creek rock hop.

DESCRIPTION
Mt Storth is the northern summit of the Mt Elliot range of Bowling Green Bay National Park (north of Alligator Ck). It is 632m altitude. To summit, it is a steep climb up a long spur without a track. Whilst scrubby at the lower reaches, the vegetation changes as we climb towards the summit. Lunch will be at the summit and depending on what time we get there, there are two ways we could descend. The most likely is via Killymoon Creek (a good rock hop, boulder scramble and nice cascades) or if time is short we'll go down Dribble Creek (rock hop, boulder scramble also but shorter).

The walk commences and traverses private property and then enters the national park.

FITNESS
To be suitable for this walk, a good analogy would be doing a Castle Hill spur, without a track, three times with ease before lunchtime.

WHAT TO BRING
- Water: you will need water for full day eg minimum 4L
