About this event

Join us for a memorable journey through the wilderness as we head towards one of FNQ's best-kept secrets – a remote waterfall nestled in the heart of Wooroonooran National Park. This trek is as thrilling as it is rewarding, with a two-tired cascade of natural beauty to unveil.

Distance and Time: The whole expedition is ~14 km return and should take approximately 8 hours, including breaks. This duration can vary depending on the group's pace and time spent at the waterfall.

Itinerary: The day will begin with a 4.5 km bike ride or walk along a picturesque track that guides us into the rainforest. Immersed in a landscape of native flora and fauna, you'll experience the wilderness in its raw form. The track will lead us right to the start of our next leg where we'll then embark on a 2.5 km off-track creek walk. Note that the rocks will be slippery and gripy shoes are required. This hike will test our mettle but reward us with the captivating sight of a remote waterfall. As we approach, the rhythmic sound of water tumbling down will call us forth, and the sight that awaits is nothing short of magical. The waterfall flows off the escarpment majestically, its shimmering waters a sight to behold. At the waterfall, we'll take a well-earned break. Here, you can enjoy your packed lunch, take a refreshing dip if conditions allow, capture some beautiful photographs, or simply relax and absorb the serene environment.

Return Journey: Post relaxation, we'll retrace our steps back along the same route. The return journey offers a different perspective of the landscape and the opportunity to spot anything we might have missed on our way in.

Difficulty: This adventure is rated grade 5 and is difficult and suitable for individuals with a fair level of fitness. The biking or walking route is fairly flat, but the final leg of the hike involves a mild decline over slippery rough terrain.

What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, a bicycle if you choose to bike the first leg, sufficient water, packed lunch, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a camera for those precious snapshots, and a sense of adventure!

Meeting Point: We will meet at the start of the track (exact location details will be emailed out).
