Paradise Beach clean-up overnighter with Ocean Crusaders

Join the Townsville Bushwalking Club for a special overnight walk to Paradise Beach, combining a remote coastal adventure with a practical beach clean-up in support of Ocean Crusaders.
Ocean Crusaders will be coming through Townsville in June and July as part of their clean-up efforts, and Brent has been in touch with Kylie to help organise the removal of rubbish from Paradise Beach. They will drop off rubbish bags in advance, and our group will hike in on Saturday morning, help fill the bags during the day, camp overnight, and have the collected rubbish ready for pick-up at 7:00 am on Sunday morning before hiking back out.
Because the rubbish collection is early on Sunday, we will most likely need to camp close to the beach rather than up on the ridgeline. The final camping location and logistics will be confirmed with participants closer to the date.
Participants should be prepared for a remote overnight walk carrying all personal camping gear, food, water, and clean-up items. Please also bring work or gardening gloves, sturdy footwear, sun protection, and clothing suitable for beach work. Rubbish bags will be provided, but participants should take care around sharp, rusty, or hazardous objects and follow the leader’s instructions during the clean-up.
A day walk option may also be added if another leader is available to guide a group in and out on Saturday. Please let the leader know when you RSVP whether you are interested in the overnighter or a possible day-walk option.
This is a great opportunity to enjoy one of our special coastal places while giving something back to the environment and supporting the work of Ocean Crusaders.
