An off-track remote wilderness exploratory adventure.
Continuing our recent theme of off-track wilderness creek-based exploring in the Paluma area, this Sunday we try Saddle Creek.
Rated - Hard.
Pre-Registration / approval with the walk leader is essential. These walks have been very popular, so register ASAP to reserve a spot.

This is a remote wilderness creek bushwalk. You may be walking in the water, there will be slippery rocks, uneven footing, slippery tree roots, tangled vines, all that good fun adventure. The rewards are great scenery, fun adventure, good laughs, a sense of achievement, and great company. See photos on the club's Facebook or Luen's website wanderstories.space for examples of potential bushwalking conditions from the recent creek based exploratory adventures.
From The Saddle on the Paluma Range Road, hike down the creek to Spiegelhauer Road. 3 km one way.
Half day hike, anticipate back at the cars around 12-2 pm depending on conditions and group.
Wear appropriate footwear, i.e., enclosed sturdy shoes that grip on slippery rocks.
Drinking water - carry 1-2 lt, refill from creeks as required (but suitably treat/filter any water refills from natural sources, or carry 3+ lt). The club also recommends use of electrolytes during the day.
Bring food and snacks to suits your energy needs for full day bushwalking.
Bushwalkers should bring their own personal (minimal) first aid kit, headtorch, and whistle. Luen will also have his personal minimal first aid kit. The club does not provide a group first aid kit.
Fees: non-members $5
Clothing- as it off-track bushwalking, long sleeve clothing or gaiters is recommended. Otherwise you may have sun burn and cuts/scratches on exposed skin at the end of the day.
Must be over 18yrs to participate.
Now you might think we will be running out of wilderness creeks to explore around Mt Spec - well, we won't, there are many more unique ideas we have in plans.
