Molly will be leading a full-day walk to Killymoon Creek, a scenic dry-season creek adventure featuring rocky gullies, granite slabs, and a beautiful gorge.
The walk begins on a fire trail across private property, with a few hills to warm up the legs before dropping into the creek system. From there, the group will follow the creek bed upstream, rock hopping and scrambling through small rocky gullies that gradually open into a more spectacular gorge.
Lunch will be at a swimming hole, where anyone keen for a cold dip can have a swim before the group turns around and follows the creek back out.
Although this walk is beginner-friendly, it is still an off-track creek walk. Participants will need a reasonable level of fitness, good balance, and confidence moving over rocks, boulders, and uneven ground. There will be some hands-on scrambling, so gloves are strongly recommended.
Meeting point:
Meet at 7:00 am. The exact meeting location will be emailed to those who RSVP.
Expected finish:
This is a full-day walk, with an estimated return to the car park around 4:00 pm.
What to bring:
Please bring at least 4 litres of water, as the availability of suitable drinking water from the creek cannot be guaranteed. You will also need lunch, snacks, electrolytes, basic first aid, sun-safe clothing, sunscreen, insect repellent, and sturdy footwear with good grip.
Gloves are strongly recommended, as there will be plenty of hands-on rock work during the walk.
